So, today my Mum, Catherine Crout-Habel would have turned 68. It is almost 5 months since she left us and the void left behind has not begun to shrink. I know she would be proud of us for the way we are continuing to live our lives, but I also know that she would be happy that today is “all about her” as we pause in our busy lives and take time to remember the amazing woman she was, and what she achieved, and how she influenced us to become the successful people we are.
I have started the day well with prepping vegetables for a delicious lamb roast lunch while remembering favourite meals cooked by Mamo as well as other lovely memories with Jay.
Happy Catherine Crout-Habel/Mamo/Caiteile day everyone. May the sun shine brightly today and may there be more tears of Joy for the fact that she was part of our lives, rather than sadness because she no longer is.
Happy Catherine Crout-Habel/Mamo/Caiteile Day to you and yours also…thank you to Catherine for our years of friendship and laughter, sleepless nights, some tears.. and for being one of the best stirrers I know. She loved “putting the cat among the pigeons” to see what reaction she got, but most of all I will remember her love of family and friends and her undying loyalty to all the people and causes she cared about.
Memories with a smile…
Thanks Chris, lovely comment 😃

I am also a gggrandaughter of Susan Kelleher & therefore a distant cousin.Catherine & I at one stage talked about a family reunion but I guess we ran out of time to organize it.Keep up the good work,I know it is very time consuming but as you say,”Mum put so much into it for all her family to enjoy.Warmest regards,
Thanks Wyn – another distant cousin 😉
thinking of you all today Kirrily on Catherine’s special day. She was such a passionate woman who believed in her family and was committed to her causes. Catherine made us laugh often, cry occasionally and care about her. She was very special and far too young to leave this world. I’m pleased you have happy thoughts among the tears.
Thanks Pauline, she was a real gem to many. Life goes on. 😢
Penblwydd Hapus Catherine, and a wonderful day of memories to the devoted family and friends you left behind. This will be huge day of celebration worldwide as we remember your blog posts full of warmth and fun as well as a serious side. I’m so glad your daughter had decided to honour your memory as she does.

I came across this site accidently while doing some research can anyone help with my query? The taller gentleman in the photo above looks very familiar to me, could his name be Willie Gordon McKinney, can anyone help me? Thankyou.
Hi Susan,
Do you mean the wedding photo at the top of the page? If so, unfortunately I can’t help. I don’t know who he is. Regards, Kirrily
