You Are Very Special

In all the world  there is nobody, nobody like you
Since the beginning of time there has never been another person
Like you

Nobody has your smile, your eyes, your hands, your hair
Nobody owns your handwriting, your voice
You’re special

Nobody can paint your brushstrokes.
Nobody has your taste for food or music or dance or art
Nobody in the universe sees things as you do.
In all time there has never been anyone who laughs
in exactly your way, and what makes you laugh or cry or think
May have a totally different response in another.
So – You’re Special

You’re different from any other person
Who has ever lived in the history of the universe
You are the only one in the whole creation
Who has your particular set of abilities
There is always someone who is better at one thing or another
Everyone is your superior in at least one way
Nobody in the universe can reach the quality of combination
of your talents, your feelings.
Like a roomful of musical instruments some might excel in
one way or another
But nobody can match the symphonic sound when all are
played together.
Your Symphony.
Through all eternity no one will ever walk, talk, think or do exactly
like you
You’re Special
You’re Very Special

In telling their stories we continue to honour them, appreciate the differences and
give thanks.

    • I’m glad you enjoyed it too Sheryl. I often think about how lucky I am for the “different” choices many of my Ancestors made. All very special in their own similar & different ways.

  1. A delightful poem Catherine. What a shame that we don’t believe about ourselves or our ancestors, in that deep-down way. I guess that’s why we chase our ancestors’ stories – to bring out their own special attributes.

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately – been on heavy-duty grandchild responsibilities for the past month.

    • Feeling a little sad as another Christmas without mum approaches I was thinking about her specialness… her handwriting, her smile, voice etc… and then this beautiful poem came to me and calmed my heart. Glad you enjoyed it too Pauleen.
Oh, no worries. Busy times and I haven’t been posting much because I’m on the hunt and busy sharing info, with my recently found Canadian cousin. She grew up with our Grandfather, my “Mysterious Musician” of a previous post, and is the “keeper” of all the family photos & documents. What a joy, eh? 😀

    • Oh, it is Chris… indeed it is. One of the joys of parenting, and now a grandparent, is the wonderment of the specialness of each of them. My most treasured “Grandmother’s Day” present was gifted to me 6 years ago, has a photo of each and the words “You are the best at making us feel good about who we are”. How lucky am I eh? …
